Client Rights & Responsibilities

Your Rights
  • You have a right to considerate and respectful care that safeguards your personal dignity.
  • You have a right to receive care through K-Town Youth Care (KTYC) and/or Youth Health & Wellness Cetner (YHWC) regardless of your race, religion, ethnicity, color, national origin, gender, ability to pay or handicap.
  • You have a right to privacy for conversations and your records will be kept confidential in accordance with state and federal law.
  • You have a right to “confidential services” as defined by Michigan Law without parent consent.
  • You have the right to be informed of laws regarding confidentiality.
  • You have the right to be able to ask questions and receive the accurate and complete information you need to make an informed decision regarding your care, and to receive that information in a way you can understand.
  • You have a right to refuse treatment that you do not want or understand.
  • You have a right to complain about the clinic, care giver or service provider if you are not satisfied with the care you receive.

Your Responsibilities
  • Be on time for your appointments or call the KTYC and/or YHWC at least 24 hours in advance if you are unable to keep an appointment.
  • Be respectful toward the KTYC and/or YHWC staff, clients and property.
  • Show consideration for other clients and respect their confidentiality.
  • Provide an accurate and complete health history and inform the KTYC and/or YHWC staff of any changes in your health including complications or reactions to treatments or medications.
  • Answer questions honestly and ask questions about anything you do not understand.
  • Follow the advice and instructions of the KTYC and/or YHWC staff and return for follow up care if needed.
