Captain Jimmy Argyle began his career with the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office in August of 2005, he was promoted to Sergeant in February of 2015, to Lieutenant in November of 2021, and to Captain in November of 2024.
Jimmy has worked as the Defensive Tactics Coordinator within the Corrections Division, holding instructor certifications in PPCT Defensive tactics, Spontaneous Knife Defense, Ground Avoidance/Ground Escape and Taser. He has also held positions on the Sheriff's Office Dive Team and the Grand Traverse County Employee Recognition Team.
Captain Argyle was awarded a department Lifesaving Award for his off-duty actions, when he and his wife successfully performed CPR on a heart attack victim at the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Jimmy is also a past recipient of a County Wellness Award for promoting a healthy lifestyle and setting a positive example of physical fitness for his coworkers.
