John McPeake

Sergeant John McPeake is originally from Battle Creek, Michigan and began his career with the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Department in Nov of 2003. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in August of 2016.

John is an Instructor for the RACC Belt (an Electronic Control Device), A Corrections Division Training Officer and a graduate of Reid School.

Sgt. McPeake was awarded the Department's Lifesaving Award for his off duty actions when he pulled an unconscious individual from the Boardman River and restored his breathing.

Prior to working for the Sheriff's Office John retired from the United States Army where he served honorably for 20 years as a Military Police Officer, Military Police Investigator, K9 handler, Recruiter, Drill Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant.
