Dive Team

By state statute, the Sheriff’s Office is responsible for underwater recovery of drowning victims. To fulfill statutory obligations, our agency has a specialized dive team comprised of officers trained in emergency marine rescue, body and property recovery, and special event security. The dive team trains year-round, in all weather conditions, and utilizes such equipment as an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV), as well as a high speed airboat for thin-ice and open water rescue.

There are occasions when our dive team is requested to assist neighboring police agencies and the United States Coast Guard. The purpose for our assistance typically involves search/rescue and recovery operations. In order for our team to be efficient when assisting other agencies, we train with them on a regular basis.
