On June 5, 2019, the Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners asked County Administration to develop a work plan to achieve goals in 2019 that the Board of Commissioners identified as being important. The County Commissioners asked Administration to work on achieving the following:
- Implement a vehicle replacement policy.
- Streamline permitting for development, construction, and all other permits.
- Complete an audit of all County facilities and buildings.
- Create a Correctional Infrastructure Committee that should study how to best improve county corrections.
- Fully fund the pension ahead of schedule.
- Annually review revenue from all special millages and the 911 surcharge and determine what funding levels from these millages/surcharge are appropriate.
- Develop an easily accessible dashboard that tracks the County's critical metrics including information on the County's finances.
- Study work force housing in the County and develop a strategy to address such needs.
- Conduct County wide surveys to establish priorities.
- Embrace wellness opportunities that will make not only County employees healthier but the region as well.
- Engage in a strategic planning session and update the County's master plan.
