SURVEY LINKS:

Grand Traverse, Leelanau and Benzie Counties are developing a Materials Management Plan - MMP (previously solid waste management plan) as required by the New State of Michigan Part 115 Rules. These three counties are developing a Tri-County Plan to prioritize sustainable practices like recycling and composting. A crucial aspect of these Plans is to get input from the residents. Please complete the online Resident survey, linked here. 

Businesses and Institutions are encouraged to fill out the online Business/Institution Survey linked here. 

Additionally, the Local Unit of Government (LUG) Survey was developed to better understand local and regional governments’ practices and perspectives, and to receive input on materials management needs. Municipality elected officials and administrators are encouraged to take the LUG survey linked here. 

NOTICE OF INTENT/REGIONALIZATION

Grand Traverse County filed its Notice of Intent to prepare the Materials Management Plan and has become the County Approval Agency as required per Part 115, Solid Waste Management, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended. Grand Traverse County intends to complete the Material Management Plan as a multi-county plan with Leelanau County and Benzie County. Please note that all materials management planning committee meetings will be open to the public and notices of these meetings will be posted at https://www.gtcountymi.gov/2750/Materials-Management-Planning-MMP and at the Grand Traverse County Public Services Building at 2650 Lafrainer Rd, Traverse City, MI 49686.
