Battery Recycling
Acceptable Items
Only batteries from Grand Traverse County residents will be accepted. Batteries from commercial businesses or nonresidents will not be accepted. Businesses may bring batteries to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection.Acceptable items from County residents include:

Drop-Off Requirements
- All battery terminals must be taped with clear masking or packaging tape.
- Only loose batteries will be accepted. Please remove batteries from all packaging. No plastic bags, product packaging material, or boxes will be accepted.
- Please do not drop off any corrosive batteries.
Scavenging & Illegal Dumping
No scavenging is permitted. Illegal dumping is subject to prosecution and a $500 fine.Drop-Off Locations
This service is for Grand Traverse County residents only. There are 9 recycling locations available for household batteries. Businesses may bring batteries to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection.
