Community Events

The Commission on Aging is involved in many special/community events throughout the county.  We are able to participate in these special events, thanks to the help of countless volunteers.  If you would like to find out more about becoming a volunteer, please see our volunteers page.

Baskets of Bounty
Food and personal care items are packaged and delivered to senior citizens in need, who will be alone during the holiday season. The Baskets of Bounty program exists due to donations of time and funding from employees, residents, groups and businesses. A huge thanks to all those involved with the Baskets of Bounty program!

AARP Safe Driving Program

From May - October, AARP volunteers conduct an 8-hour Driver Safety Course (over a 2 day period) through the Commission on Aging, specially designed for mature drivers. Appointments are taken beginning - mid-April and AARP charge a fee for this program.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak our May 2021 class has been canceled.  If we are able to provide a September course we will post that information here.

The commission on Aging also participates in and/or hosts this program/ service.

Reservations are required, please contact our office at 231-922-4688, or toll-free at 877-686-4688, to schedule an appointment.
