Responsibilities

The Circuit Court is a state trial court where issues involving rights and responsibilities of individuals and Michigan laws are tried. Our Judges hear civil lawsuits involving the awarding of money (matters over $25,000) and enforcement of rights between individuals. The Judges also try criminal cases where the state charges as felonies when laws have been broken and punishment should be imposed.

The Circuit Court also handles family matters including divorce and hears cases appealed from the District Court.
