Our Mission
The mission of the Grand Traverse County Resource Recovery Department (RecycleSmart) is to protect the public health and environment of our community by efficiently managing waste materials with a focus on resource conservation.
RecycleSmart is the name of the resource recovery programs provided to residents by Grand Traverse County.
Resource recovery is the process of capturing specific waste materials for reprocessing into new forms or energy. Recovered materials can be used as raw materials in the making of new products. Resource recovery efforts help our environment and our economy by reducing waste, conserving natural resources and saving energy!
