Sexual Assault

Support
The Grand Traverse County Prosecutor's Office prosecutes all forms of sexual assault that occur within the county, whether the case involves family members, acquaintances, strangers, or intimate partners. The office works closely with law enforcement and child protective services, as well as medical and mental health professionals to be sure that a complete investigation is conducted and that the victim is supported throughout the process.

Child Advocacy Center
In sexual abuse cases involving children, the Prosecutor's Office works closely with the Traverse Bay Child Advocacy Center (CAC). The center provides a child and family friendly setting where young children and teens are interviewed by qualified forensic interviewers. While at the CAC, parents and guardians are supported and provided information regarding the investigation and court process. A family advocate shares the resources available in the community to help the victim and his or her family through this difficult time.
