Maternal Infant Health Program

The Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP) is a home visiting program that is based on evidence and designed for pregnant individuals and infants who are enrolled in Medicaid. The program aims to provide education, resources, and support to promote healthy pregnancies, positive birth outcomes, and healthy infants. The MIHP team strives to meet individuals where they are and offer assistance to help them maintain health and wellness throughout pregnancy and infancy.

MIHP Provides:

  • A team consisting of Registered Nurses, Licensed Social Workers, Registered Dietitians, and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants who work together to coordinate and connect families to available resources in the community.
  • Coordinate MIHP services with the beneficiary's healthcare provider and Medicaid Health Plan as needed to coordinate pregnancy, postpartum, and infant care needs.
  • Although MIHP is a home visiting program, services can also be provided via the phone, in the community, or via telehealth, depending on the family's preference.
  • Referrals to local childbirth education or parenting classes and community services (e.g., mental health, substance misuse, domestic violence, basic needs assistance) as needed.
