The Grand Traverse County Health Department (GTCHD) monitors diseases that can be transmitted to humans by animals or vectors. These diseases can pose a threat to individuals and the health of our communities.
Vector-borne diseases:
Vectors like mosquitoes, ticks, or fleas can carry and transmit parasitic, viral, or bacterial diseases to people. A person who gets bitten by a vector and gets sick has a vector-borne disease.
